— A Forest Fairytale Camping Nook
Once upon a mountain…
Up a rural mountain road through the Pisgah National Forest, past singing trees and whispering winds, there’s a secret spot where magic lingers. Welcome to your creekside camping nook, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains — where time slows down, stars shine brighter, and our Highland cows roam like enchanted woodland creatures.
Perched right on a babbling creek — perfect for dipping your toes, soaking in the sounds of nature, or just unwinding with a cup of something warm by the fire. This one-of-a-kind, one-spot-only campsite is your private creekfront-row seat to nature’s quiet magic, with nothing but trees, stars, and the occasional Highland cow mooing! They’re practically your fuzzy, four-legged neighbors.
Yes, you read that right — Highland cows! (with the with big fuzzy heads and even bigger personalities). These shaggy, gentle beauties roam the nearby pasture like forest spirits with bangs. Snap a photo, sketch them in your journal, or just admire them from a hammock up near their barn. The barn and highland cows are a shared space, and are a quick walk from the creekside camp. Whether you’re here to hike, stargaze, or just disappear into nature for a few days, this off-grid haven is ready to welcome you with open woods and wagging cow tails.
A few enchanted tidbits:
• Located on 23 acres on 2 sides of the road, the camp is 2 acres, across is the other 21 acres
• Getting here is a little adventure — SUVs and trucks only, please. One lane gravel sloped road.
• No campers or RVs — tents only, the one lane gravel road can't accommodate the big stuff.
• Room for up to 4 vehicles on a grassy hill
Creekfront Camp & Cowside Magic
Nestled in a sunny clearing surrounded by whispering woods, this one-of-a-kind campsite offers everything you need for a magical forest escape — and just enough charm to make you wonder if you’ve wandered into a fairytale.
Wander across a storybook-style footbridge over a seasonal spring. Dangle your feet in the bubbling creek while fireflies twinkle above in the summer. Swing lazily in the hammock, grill up something delicious on the fire pit/grill combo, and gather ‘round the picnic table under glowing solar Italian lights as the stars peek out one by one.
There’s room to park up to four carriages (okay, fine — turcks/SUV'S), and you’ll find yourself tucked in privacy, with nothing but trees and creek frontage. A couple of charming nature trails beckon nearby, winding through the woods like secret passages on our 23 acres. And if you’re feeling neighborly, it’s just a short, cheerful stroll to the Highland cow barn, where the real magic lives — in shaggy faces and curious moos.
Highlights:
• Creekfront with full private access
• BYO Tent-Flat Tent Spot is roughly 20'x 20'
• Fire pit + grill combo for fireside feasting using coal or firewood
• Hammock, picnic table, and solar twinkle-lit evenings
• Footbridge over a spring (yes, it’s as cute as it sounds)
• Surrounded by woods, hugged by the creek
• Magical mountain views in the fall & winter months
• Trails to wander, cows to greet, and peace to soak in
• Gather firewood from anywhere on property
• Provided covered trash bin & bear bag (Guests are required to take trash upon checkout)
• There’s a charming little porta potty (hey, even fairy tales need toilets).
• Pack it in, pack it out — leave no trace, only footprints and fairy dust.
Whether you’re here for a weekend retreat, a whimsical escape, or just to say “hello” to the cows, The Cow Creek Camp is ready to wrap you in forest magic.
Wildlife & Safety-Being surrounded by miles of forest means encountering wildlife is possible. Guests have spotted deer, bears, coyotes, bobcats, and more. Be mindful of food storage, use the provided bear bag & covered trash bin, and make your presence known while exploring. Safety is key, but there’s no need to worry—just be prepared and enjoy the experience!

About the Owner
We are Chris & Jenna Pelayo, and we were both born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. Now living in Summerville, “FlowerTown”, South Carolina, which is right outside of Charleston and where sweet tea was born! There is a lot of history in this little town, and we bought a piece of it. Now we are proud owners of an 1870’s Colonial Farmhouse fixer upper built by a well known Southern “Ohana”. This home was kept in that family for generations up until the last decade where it sat empty. With our love of renovating and DIY, we are taking this house on project by project and bringing it back to life. Our other passion is our animals, we have dog-kids and an urban farm of dwarf goats, mini-Scottish Highland cows, fancy chickens, honey bees, and barn cats! So Flowertown Charm started with our blog, but we now host stays in our home as a private BnB, as well as make & sell farm goods, host goat yoga classes, farm tours, & paint and wine classes with goats! And our newest adventure, building an off-grid sustainable treehouse on 23 acres in Western North Carolina. We cherish the life we have built together, doing what we love, and sharing it with you!
